October Update - 10/18/24

Phew this year has been a lot, we’ve played 28 shows this year. A good number fewer than last year, but still that would equal about playing one show every other week. Last year I was dealing with a whole lotta burnout around the end of the year, and wasn’t feeling so sure what we were doing. This year I got a bit less burnout, but I’m still not super sure about our trajectory…

That being said we're definitely still going in a good direction! We’re still working on the next album, and are also working on a music video or two right now. We got a bunch of songs recorded for the next album, but for me I’ve been really picky with what we choose to let through for this project. I want it to be really good, and with each new track we record it feels like the oldest ones are eclipsed in a way that make it hard to feel like they’d fit well on the final project. You know?

First 2 shows of the year + 2 new songs - 4/22/24

Just a couple weeks ago we dropped our new release “Godzilla!!” with the two release tracks on the single being a cover of Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult and The Firebender, which will hopefully be a part of another an upcoming project(?).

In addition we’ve played our first two shows this year! First one was a goodbye show for our bass trombone player and front man Ronnie, who will certainly be heading off to do great things in the mid west. The second show was our first at attempting to play as a more jazz combo style thing. Hopefully eventually we can harness the energy of what makes NOLA Trad Jazz fun, but all things considered everyone really enjoyed it!

All of this is to say that April 2024 is a month of twos, two great shows and two great songs kicking it all off. Thanks to everyone that supports us! Y’all make this happen :)

We’re back! - 2/26/24

All sorts of new stuff happening this year! Just made a slap dash music video, started rehearsing again, planning on dropping some new songs in April, and we’re going to start doing open rehearsals! We want to give back to the community, and that involves teaching musicians in the community what we’ve learned over the years to help grow what makes this music great. If you want to get involved then reach out to us over email, on Instagram, or Facebook!

Van Repairs + New Shirts - 10/19/21

Getting stuff done!! Ordered a set of shirts with our new design this weekend. Hopefully they get in by our show on the 30th! Today Cooper and I did some repairs on the van, replaced the back turn signal, replaced the terminals on the battery, chopped off the very top of the bench seats, etc. This band van is slowly becoming a band home lol

Tour Success! - 10/13/21

Ok so we played three shows in a weekend, two were in our home town. One was in Woodland, which is right next to the Columbia River(basically Portland) and they all went well! On the last day of our tour(Saturday) we made the effort of getting the van running, and it basically works! It took us all day to make it work though, which made us nearly late for our gig, and it cost way more than we expected. Ultimately though it was worth, we made enough from gigging to cover it all which was cool, and driving around in the van boosted morale a lot! Hoping to put together a more proper tour with more than 2 city stops in December, here’s hoping it goes well!

Website Maintenance + Lessons! - 9/29/21

OK, so working on this thing is coming along well. Turns out I was not quite as finished with this as I thought though. Yesterday I combined the Contact and About page to go into a new folder that’s in the top left called Info. That was to create space for the new FAQ page that is also in that tab.

ONE COOL THING that we added to the contact page was to get in touch with some of our band members for lessons! Ronnie Jason and I(Maxwell) can now be reached out to at any time in order to spread wisdom and knowledge via a lesson.

I also added a section to the website for a newsletter, that shit will take a while to get off the ground, but in theory if we work that angle hard we’ll be able to really solidify our core audience(hopefully).

What we got is mostly clean, but it could be cleaner. FAQ page could do with some editing to make the structure more sound, and there’s some things from our profiles on other websites that we need to feature here. As well as some last bits of detail that we need to imbue into these pages.

FIRST TOUR - 9/27/21

WE’RE DOING IT! Now that we have the van we can travel as a whole group instead of being cramped into two separate cars when we go out of town for shows. Naturally the next thing to do was to plan a tour around that, our album release, etc. It feels so good to be leveling up in so many ways lately, the growth has brought us closer together than ever before and that feeling of camaraderie is amazing. The tour is like, 75% booked right now, looking for a venue for Sunday the 10th of October. If all else fails we can just busk in Seattle Sunday. It feels like a compromise but technically it still counts as a stop lmao

Van Plans - 9/27/21

We got a van! Still trying to name her, but hopefully she’ll be our ticket out of Bellingham and will get us on track towards full world domination, don’t have any pictures but also it’s a bucket of bolts. The only good thing about it is the engine haha. When we spruce it up we’ll update the blog with some pics, hopefully.

Setting sail, website launches 9/27/21

We did it! The website is live, life is good, the band is growing, etc. Hopefully we update this website often enough that people actually check it out!
